Year 6 Open Evening
Families of Year 6 children
We are very keen for you to be able to visit our site in person, whilst balancing everyone’s safety in respect of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of this, we are adapting our usual practice to offer booked time, guided tours of the school rather than a traditional open night. In addition, the usual welcome address by the Headteacher, Mr Haigh, will be virtual and available here prior to the evening rather than a live event in a crowded assembly hall.
The tour will take in all parts of the school building and facilities and provide an opportunity to meet members of staff and students to ask any questions you may have. Mr Haigh and other members of the Senior Leadership Team will be on hand for questions throughout the evening, as well as key members of staff involved in Special Educational Needs, Safeguarding, Primary Transition and our Integrated Resource.
Please note we can only accommodate one student and one parent/carer.
Please be aware, as an oversubscribed school, if you do not live in the catchment or are not being provided with a place due to your child being currently or previously in the care of the local authority or via being named on an EHCP, then there is very little chance of your child being placed with us. I share this to avoid wasted evenings for families and to try to keep the limited places for tours for those who will have the opportunity to choose King Ecgbert School for their child. Please check your school catchment here.
We would request that you are mindful of our need to provide a safe environment for yourselves, our staff, students and other families. Please consider taking mitigating steps as part of your visit, including a recent lateral flow test or being double vaccinated, wearing a mask and not attending if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.
We are taking necessary steps to reduce risks by:
- not allowing large groups to gather
- timed entry to manage numbers in building with fixed number of bookings
- one way tour in small groups
- building well ventilated and cleaned before and after
- staff encouraged to wear masks
